Honoring National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

November is National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness, support caregivers, and honor those whose strength continues to inspire.

For me, that person is Coach Pat Summitt.

Way before Green Office, I spent two unforgettable years as a graduate assistant for Coach Summitt at the University of Tennessee. It was more than basketball, it was leadership bootcamp, life school, and family all at once.

Coach Summitt is the definition of excellence: 1,098 career wins, 8 national titles, 31 straight NCAA tournaments. But it’s her impact off the court, how she built people, that still shapes how I lead today.

When she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2011, she faced it with courage, honesty, and a commitment to help others. That spirit lives on through the Pat Summitt Foundation, which funds Alzheimer’s research, caregiver support, and programs improving community health and wellness.

Coach Summitt’s influence didn’t stop at the gym. She cared deeply about her community, championing mental health, access to care, and opportunities for young people to thrive. Today, her legacy continues the Pat Summitt Foundation Clinic in Knoxville, TN.

This November, Green Office will donate proceeds from all simulator bookings to the Pat Summitt Foundation in her honor.

How Pat Shows Up at Green Office—Every Day

  • Standards over slogans - we keep a tidy bay, clear expectations, and consistent service. Excellence is a habit, not a headline.

  • People first - names remembered, goals noted, wins celebrated — from first-time golfers to league regulars.

  • Build the bench - from junior Greenies to corporate memberships, we create pathways for confidence and community.

To reflect on her influence, I reached out to her son, Tyler Summitt, former college coach and lifelong golfer, for a few reflections on leadership, legacy, and life on the course.

  1. How does your mom’s leadership style show up in your life today?

  2. When you think about her legacy, what do you most want people to remember about who she was beyond the wins?

  3. You’re an avid golfer — how does the game of golf connect with the lessons she taught about discipline and mindset?

  4. For those of us honoring her this month, what does supporting the Pat Summitt Foundation mean to you personally?

Pat Summitt built more than teams — she built people. At Green Office, we carry that legacy forward: standards, care, and community in every session.

This month, every swing counts a little more. Join us as we play for Pat.
