One Year of Green Office

Hi Greenies,

November will always be special here at Green Office — it’s where this story began.

Me and Owen after a successful auction

I first learned about the opportunity to purchase the equipment that would eventually fill Green Office through relationships built with First Tee of Metro Atlanta, proof that small connections can grow into something much bigger. On November 13, 2024, with help from Owen DeWinne, a Decatur High School golfer, we placed the winning bids from his parents’ kitchen table.

Two days later, on November 15, I got the keys to a one bedroom apartment at Arlo, then came a solo drive to Statesboro to load up every last piece of equipment, a truck full of potential that would soon become the heart of Decatur’s only indoor golf studio.

Over the next 78 days, neighbors, friends, and local supporters rolled up their sleeves to help transforming that one bedroom apartment into something entirely new. Every nail, cable, and patch of turf carried the spirit of a community that believed golf could look different here in Decatur, more accessible, more creative, more connected.

I asked for feedback anywhere I could, from conversations at Adair Dog Park to posting on the Decatur subreddit for brutally honest takes on the first version of our website. I did not have a blueprint, just a dream and the determination to keep showing up, even when things did not go as planned.

Some days tested my resilience more than I expected. But every small step forward mattered, even the Indiegogo campaign that only reached 3% of my goal. Every neighbor who checked in, every friend who lent a hand, every kind word along the way, it all became part of the foundation we built.

Since opening our doors, we have hosted clinics, leagues, and golfers of all levels who have come to sharpen their game or simply enjoy time with friends and family. Watching people laugh, compete, and connect has been the most rewarding part of it all, especially now as colder days and earlier nights make it the perfect season to enjoy what we built together.

As we celebrate this first year, I am already looking ahead. In January, we will honor our very first paid customer, a reminder of how far we have come and the people who made it possible. Stay tuned for the celebration details.

Thank you for believing, showing up, and helping Green Office grow into something bigger than I ever imagined.
