One Year of Green Office

Hi Greenies,

November will always be special here at Green Office — it’s where this story began.

Me and Owen after a successful auction

I first learned about the opportunity to purchase the golf equipment that would eventually fill our space through relationships built over the years with The First Tee of Metro Atlanta — a reminder of how small connections can grow into something much bigger. On November 13, 2024, I secured all of that equipment at auction with the help of Owen DeWinne, a Decatur High School golfer who joined me from his parents’ kitchen table to place the winning bids.

A few days later, I made the solo drive down to Statesboro to load up every last piece of equipment, a truck full of potential and possibility that would soon become the heart of the studio. Just two days after the auction, on November 15, I got the keys to our space at Arlo, a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment that I began transforming into something entirely new.

Over the next 78 days, neighbors, friends, and local supporters rolled up their sleeves to help with the build-out and painting. Each wall, cable, and putting mat carried a piece of the community that believed golf could look different here in Decatur — more accessible, more creative, more connected.

In those early days, I asked for feedback anywhere I could find it, from friends at Adair dog park to even posting on Reddit for brutally honest takes on the idea of an indoor golf studio and the first version of our website. I had no blueprint, no investor, just belief and a willingness to keep showing up, even when things didn’t go according to plan.

As I shared recently, entrepreneurship has a way of testing everything you think you know about resilience. Some days felt heavy, filled with doubt, second guesses, and long nights of wondering if it would work. But every small step forward mattered. Every neighbor who checked in, every friend who lent a hand, every kind word along the way, it all became part of the foundation we built.

Since opening our doors, we’ve held clinics, leagues, and events, and welcomed golfers of all levels who’ve come to sharpen their game or simply enjoy time with friends and family. Watching people laugh, compete, and connect here has been the most rewarding part of this journey, especially now, as colder days and earlier nights make it the perfect season to enjoy what we built together.

As we celebrate this first year, I’m already looking ahead — in January, we’ll be honoring our very first paid customer, a reminder of how far we’ve come and the people who made it possible. Stay tuned for the celebration details!

Thank you for being part of it all, for believing, showing up, and helping Green Office grow into something bigger than I ever imagined.
